Alligators are an extremely rare sight in the Guadalupe River, but it has happened before. A kayaker had the thrill of a lifetime in 2016 when they were kayaking near Edge Falls Road above El Paso, Texas. The most recent incident occurred in May of this year, when a man was bitten on the arm by a gator while kayaking along the river.
TPWD said that the man’s injuries were not life-threatening, and he was treated and released from a local hospital. However, the incident was not the first time that alligators have attacked a person. In 2013, an 18-year-old woman was attacked and killed by one while swimming in a creek near her home in San Antonio.
