From the southern border states, Alligators are expanding their range into Tennessee. TWRA has not stocked this species in the state for many years. (TDEC) and the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) are working together to protect this endangered species.

Where in Tennessee have alligators?
They don’t like salt water because they live close to the coast. So far, they are only found in West Tennessee in areas around the Mississippi River. They are still confined to the western part of the state, but have slowly moved eastward in recent years.
