The new snake is the first of its kind to have been discovered in Brazil, and it’s likely to be the most dangerous snake on the planet, according to the researchers, who published their findings in a recent issue of The Journal of Experimental Biology.
“The discovery of this species is a major step forward in our efforts to understand the evolution and ecology of these snakes,” said study co-author and IBB researcher Carlos Eduardo de Souza.
