OVX rats were exposed to high doses of PCBs (0.1, 0.5 and 1.0 mg/kg body weight/day) for 6 weeks.
The levels of GnRH and LH were measured in the serum of the rats at the end of each treatment period. We found that exposure to the highest dose (1.2 mg per kg body wt) resulted in a significant increase in LH secretion and a decrease in GnRHa secretion. These results suggest that PCB exposure may have a direct effect on LH release.
