Chain a number of 6 + 3 chain stitches. This example has a chain of 33 stitches. The first double crochet is formed by the 3 chains. The third chain has a double crochet hook on it. Rows 1 and 2 until you reach the end of the row. Fasten off and weave in ends.
The second foundation row is worked in the same way, but instead of chain 3, you will be working into a single crochet stitch. This is a great way to add a little variety to your foundation rows. You can also work the second row in a different color if you prefer.
