What do you put in a snail enclosure?
A layer of reptile mulch found in pet stores topped with a layer of pesticide- and fertilizer-free potting soil mixed with a bit of vermiculite works well. The snails need food, water, and a calcium-rich environment to survive. Snails can be kept indoors or outdoors, depending on the size of the snail and the temperature of your home.
You can also keep them outdoors if you have a well-ventilated area, such as a patio or deck. Keep in mind, however, that you will need to provide a place for them to lay their eggs and raise their young, as well as provide them with shelter from the elements.
What does a snail need in its tank?
Soft water isn’t good for snails because they don’t like calcium and don’t like minerals. If your water is soft, you can increase the snails’ absorption of calcium by feeding them calcium-rich vegetables or calcium supplements or by floating them in water with a calcium supplement.

If you don’t want to suffocate the snails, you could punch a hole into the lid and keep it closed. If you keep plants in the containment which get some light, the snails will not be able to get out. In the end, it is up to you to decide whether or not you want to live in a snail-free world.
Can I put succulents in my snail terrarium?
Once you’ve filled your bowl about ¼ to ⅓ full of dirt, insert any plants or succulents you want to include. These are mostly for appearance. The snails liked to eat a couple of rocks. Place the snail shells in the bottom of the bowl, and cover them with a layer of soil. This will help keep the soil from drying out.
